When We Are Blessed, We Are Tested

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night, He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prosper. - Psalm 1:1-3

Sometimes, we are tested more in times of plenty than we are in times of privation. When we experience life's difficult days, we may be more likely to turn thoughts and hearts to God. But in times of plenty, when the sun is shining and our minds are at ease, we may be tempted to believe that our good fortune is entirely of our own making. Nothing could be further from the truth. God plays a hand on every aspect of everyday life, and for the blessings that we receive, we must offer thanks and praise to Him, not to ourselves.

Have you been bless by God? Are you enjoying the abundance He has promised? If so, praise Him for His gifts. Praise Him faithfully and humbly. And don't, for a single moment, allow a prideful heart to separate you from the blessings of your loving Father.

Prayer from the Blogger:
Father,
Thank you for the blessings You bestow upon us daily. Thank you for the abundance You promised, and are still delivering. Lord, when things are going good, help me to remember it is from You to me.
Thank You.

Digging Deeper:
Read the following passage -

Psalm 1

New Living Translation (NLT)

Book One (Psalms 1–41)

Psalm 1

Oh, the joys of those who do not
follow the advice of the wicked,
    or stand around with sinners,
    or join in with mockers.
But they delight in the law of the Lord,
meditating on it day and night.
They are like trees planted along the riverbank,
    bearing fruit each season.
Their leaves never wither,
and they prosper in all they do.
But not the wicked!
They are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind.
They will be condemned at the time of judgment.
Sinners will have no place among the godly.
For the Lord watches over the path of the godly,
but the path of the wicked leads to destruction.

Challenge:
Surround yourself with those who delight in the law of the LORD, and meditate on IT day and night.
